Launch of the Venturefest Apprentice

Oxford, 02 April 2008

Just as Sir Alan has commenced the search for his next Apprentice, The Oxford Trust is seeking Year 12 students who are keen to participate in the Venturefest Apprentice.

Venturefest has always supported the entrepreneurs of the future. This year The Oxford Trust will be running a competition based on the plethora of television shows looking to find the next entrepreneurs. From "Dragon’s Den" to "The Apprentice" participants are being tested on their skills in creativity, sales and marketing, leadership and team working.  These skills are imperative for any young and up and coming person to make a success in the business world.

The Trust is currently seeking enthusiastic Year 12 science, technology and business studies students from all over the county to apply for a chance to win £1000 and a summer placement at a high tech company. Amanda Nolte, Head of Innovation at The Oxford Trust commented "this is a fantastic opportunity for young people to get a taste of the exciting opportunities available by working in a science and technology company."

The students will take part in a set of gruelling challenges during an Enterprise day to be held at Science Oxford in June. These challenges will be focussed on the key skills needed to run a successful business, much the same as The Apprentice. Chosen finalists will progress to the trials at Venturefest.  Here their entrepreneurial skills will be tested further, and they will work their way towards the prize with the competition culminating in presentations to a panel of judges who then choose the Venturefest Apprentice.

Venturefest will take place at Unipart Group of Companies, Garsington Road, Cowley, Oxford on 30 June and 1 July 2008. The Venturefest Apprentice is coordinated by The Oxford Trust. To apply to take part in the competition, contact Jo Hodges at The Oxford Trust by e-mail at jo.hodges [at] oxtrust.org.uk or by phone on 01865 728953.
