NHS Innovations
Challenges facing NHS Innovation Hubs and their plans for the future
Chair: Professor Russell Smith, Business Boffins Ltd
The NHS Plan recognises the need for the NHS to develop with innovation at its heart. Commercialisation of innovations arising from within the NHS is managed by nine Innovation Hubs in England, offering support to NHS staff who have a pre-market product and serving NHS organisations in their regions by identifying, protecting and developing intellectual property (IP) sourced from within.
Chief Executives from three of the nine innovation hubs; Dr John Stedman from the South East, Dr Maria Hassard from the South West, and from Midtech Dr David Gleaves will speak about the innovation challenges faced by the NHS mapping the process, planning realistic time scales, and identifying which NHS area should be approached and at what stage.
Illustrating the innovation pathway to adoption will be doctors from within the NHS, together with Martin Levermore, Chief Executive, MDTI Ltd and Dr Mark Payton, Fund Principal, Mercia Technology Seed.
