TUESDAY 1 JULY 15.15 – 16.15
Closing Address: Dr Mike Grocott
In May 2007, Caudwell Xtreme Everest placed a research team on the summit of Mount Everest and made the first ever measurement of the level of oxygen in human blood on the balcony of Everest at 8400m.
This was the centrepiece of an extensive and continuing programme of research into hypoxia (low oxygen levels) and human performance at extreme altitude, aimed at improving the care of the critically ill and other patients where hypoxia is a fundamental problem.
The Expedition Leader was Dr Mike Grocott, Senior Lecturer and Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine, and Venturefest is delighted that Mike has accepted its invitation to close Venturefest with a keynote speech about this amazing feat.
